Jumpei's blog

A small garden to share what Jumpei nurtures.

I’m Jumpei Hirono, a Japanese living in Bellevue (next to Seattle). I was humble enough to move from clean, safe, lower-cost-healthcare Japan to the country of freedom.

After a 17-year career at Microsoft, I decided to spend my time on three items; family, rock climbing, and make things. I started a small business called Atelier Hirono, where I help several Series B/C startups build beautifully crafted, aesthetically thoughtful products shaped by my own sensitivity and taste.

Rock climbing is a significant part of my life. I have 10+ years of climbing experience and now focus mainly on trad climbing. You can find me in Index, Washington three times a week during the season, and I visit Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Lake Tahoe, Red Rock, Moab/Indian Creek, and Squamish every year. The west coast of North America is heaven for trad climbing.
